CONTACT

## Support contacts.

### App support

Email [support@foxlight.ai](mailto:support@foxlight.ai?subject=Skulk™%20Operator%20app%20support) with your device model, operating-system version, app version and build, and a description of what happened. Please do not include a pairing code or credential.

### Skulk™ software support

Skulk™ is open-source software. For installation, configuration, cluster operation, or reproducible software issues, read the [installation guide](https://foxlight-foundation.github.io/Skulk/install/) or [open an issue on GitHub](https://github.com/Foxlight-Foundation/Skulk/issues). If you are unsure whether a problem is in the app or the cluster, [email us](mailto:support@foxlight.ai?subject=Skulk™%20software%20support).

### Privacy and deletion

Read the [privacy policy](/legal/privacy/) or email [support@foxlight.ai](mailto:support@foxlight.ai?subject=Skulk™%20support) with questions about privacy or deletion.

GET CONNECTED

## Pair Skulk™ Operator.

### Scan from the dashboard

1. Open the local dashboard for the Skulk™ cluster you operate.
2. Choose Settings, then Pairing, and generate a pairing code.
3. In Skulk™ Operator, choose Scan pairing code and scan the displayed QR code.
4. Confirm the cluster identity. The app stores the resulting device credential in protected device storage.

### Camera and code privacy

* Camera access is requested only when you open the scanner.
* The app does not capture or save camera images or the raw QR payload.
* A pairing code is a bearer invitation. Do not post it publicly or send it to support.
* The cluster operator can revoke a paired device from the dashboard or app.

TROUBLESHOOTING

## Start with cluster truth.

### Cannot connect

Confirm the Skulk™ cluster and operator gateway are running, bring the app to the foreground, and retry sync. If the device was revoked or the invitation expired, generate and scan a new pairing code.

### Chat is unavailable

Cluster Ops remains available when the fabric steward is healthy. Other chat targets require a compatible model instance to be placed and ready. Check Models and Activity for current state.

### Spoken responses

The speaker control appears only when a ready streaming speech model is available. Check the device volume and audio route, then verify the speech model remains ready on the cluster.

COMMON QUESTIONS

## Common questions.

What is Skulk™ Operator?

Skulk™ Operator is a mobile app for the person who owns or administers a Skulk™ cluster. A Skulk™ cluster is one or more computers that the operator controls and uses to run AI models. The app is a remote control for that cluster: it shows the connected computers, models, and current operations; lets the operator manage models; and provides chat with AI models running on the cluster. The app does not run or store those AI models on the phone or tablet.

Do I need a Foxlight™ account?

No. There is no Foxlight™ account, registration, subscription, or purchase flow. To use the app, you need access to a Skulk™ cluster that you own or administer. You connect the app by generating a pairing code in that cluster’s local Skulk™ dashboard and scanning it with the app.

Does the app send prompts to a third-party AI provider?

No. Skulk™ Operator does not send prompts to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or another third-party AI provider. Inference runs on the operator-owned Skulk™ cluster, using models selected and administered by that operator. During normal chat, the prompt and response are encrypted end to end between the app and that cluster. They are not sent to Foxlight™ or to a third-party AI provider. The optional Report action is a separate, user-confirmed action explained below.

What personal information does the app ask for?

Skulk™ Operator does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, location, or a Foxlight™ account. Pairing creates a device credential that authorizes the app to connect to the cluster; it does not create a personal profile. The app requests camera access only when you choose to scan a pairing code. The code is read on the device, and camera images are not saved or sent to Foxlight. Normal cluster commands, prompts, and responses remain inside the end-to-end encrypted connection to your cluster. The separate Report action is explained below and sends content only after you review and confirm it.

How does Skulk™ Operator communicate with a cluster?

The app communicates with one operator gateway running on the Skulk™ cluster; it does not connect separately to every computer in the cluster. Pairing gives the app a device credential for that gateway. The app then uses an authenticated, end-to-end encrypted connection to read cluster status and send the operator’s commands to Skulk™.

Why does the relay exist?

A Skulk™ cluster commonly runs on a home, studio, or other private network, while the operator’s phone may be somewhere else. The cluster gateway opens an outbound connection to the Foxlight™ relay. That lets the paired app reach the gateway without port forwarding, a public IP address, or exposing the Skulk™ dashboard and API directly to the internet. The relay forwards the connection; it does not operate the cluster.

Can Foxlight™ read traffic carried by the relay?

No. The encrypted connection begins in Skulk™ Operator and ends at the operator gateway on the cluster. The Foxlight™ relay does not have the encryption keys, so it cannot decode credentials, cluster commands, model details, prompts, or responses. To route and maintain the connection, the relay can observe limited technical information such as when a connection is active, its opaque routing identifier, and the timing and size of encrypted traffic.

What are open-weight models?

An AI model’s “weights” are the learned numerical parameters it uses to generate a response. An open-weight model makes those parameters available for people to download and run on their own computers instead of requiring a hosted AI service. Each model is published by its own developer or organization and has its own license, terms, capabilities, and limitations. “Open weight” does not necessarily mean public domain, free of restrictions, or open-source software.

Does Foxlight™ provide the AI models?

No. Foxlight™ provides the Skulk™ software and compatibility information that helps an operator find models Skulk™ can run. A listing in Skulk™ does not mean that Foxlight™ created, owns, or endorses that model. The operator chooses which models to obtain from their identified publishers or repositories, accepts the applicable licenses and terms, and runs them on the operator’s own cluster. The model publisher and the cluster operator - not Foxlight™ - determine the model’s behavior and generated content.

What is sent when I report an assistant response?

Reporting is separate from normal app and relay traffic. Nothing is sent to Foxlight™ unless you tap Report on an assistant response, choose a reason, review what will be included, and confirm. The report contains that one assistant response, the reason you selected, any optional comment you enter, the app version, and whether you are using iOS or Android. It does not include your prompt, other messages, cluster or model identity, or credentials. Credential-like text is removed before upload and checked again by the service. Reports are encrypted at rest, are not used to train models, and are deleted within 90 days. The app shows a receipt that you can send to support@foxlight.ai to request earlier deletion.

Where are conversations stored?

Conversation history is encrypted and stored only on the phone or tablet where the conversation occurred. Foxlight™ cannot access it. It is not synchronized to a Foxlight™ account or backed up to Foxlight. You can delete all local conversations from Settings in the app.

What does Skulk™ Operator cost?

Skulk™ Operator is free and has no subscription or in-app purchases. Skulk™ is open-source software. The operator provides and administers the computers, network connection, and AI models used by their cluster, so costs associated with that equipment or connectivity remain the operator’s responsibility.
